Day One | Framing

Today marks my first day of Summer session US[2]. This week has predominately been used as an introduction period for those students inexperienced in construction and site safety. After seeing the progress over the spring semester, its incredible to be responsible for the next phase of the building's construction.

Today we unloaded wood to begin construction on interior walls, our current focus. I joined a group to help construct walls for the matron's suite, framing in a bathroom, mechanical closet and bedroom.

This blog will serve as a digital journal documenting photos and notes following the progress of the UNCG Urban Studio [2] design-build, My Sister's House. This is a home in Greensboro, NC built by students in the UNCG Interior Architecture Program + Guilford Tech Carpentry Program for pregnant teenage girls of the Youth Focus program. The house is poured concrete ICF construction and aims to achieve LEED Gold certification though both building and product construction.
